2 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for.   November 14, 2001

I ordered one and returned it the day after it arrived. The unit is flimsy and very lightwieght. For very light mixing it might be OK. I upgraded to a Waring Drink Mixer. Yeah, it's more expensive, but it's base is cast metal, it's sturdy, and it's motor easily outclasses the Hamilton Beach.

5 out of 5 stars Works like a charm   October 19, 2001

I knew I wasn't buying the 200hp commercial version but this household grade machine does a great job. My main purpose was for mixing breakfast/vitamin drinks in the morning before rushing out the door. It does exactly what I wanted it to. $30 was a deal on this machine. This retro green color is something to get used to though. I suppose it makes it unique in a kitchen that is all white.

1 out of 5 stars What is the point?   July 7, 2001

Other than it's use as a cute looking retro gadget, I do not understand the point of this device. It is flimsy, low powered and has a single use.

You would be much better served by buying immersion blender which would perform the same task (and many others) more effectively.

5 out of 5 stars Great shake maker   June 19, 2001

The Hamilton Beach drink mixer is a great, handy item to have on hand during the summer. It makes great chocolate milk, especially with Hershey's Special Dark syrup. Milk shakes come out almost as good as the real ice cream shop. The trick is to use ice cream that is not rock hard and let the mixer work, don't turn it off too soon. Cleanup is a breeze since the spindle removes easily. Recommended for anyone trying to make treats for kids, and the occassional adult, like me.
