5 out of 5 stars works great   August 25, 2008
This coffee maker uses less coffee than my old one and it tastes much better. I love the signal when it is finished brewing and the auto shut off signal. well worth the extra dollars.

1 out of 5 stars When a love affair goes bad . . .   August 25, 2008
Looked high and low for the perfect pot. Had to special order it just to get the white color. Loved everything about this pot, and did not find it hard to use, except when warm, the reservoir lid was cranky and wouldn't always shut properly. But it was worth the hassle. Then, after eight months, it just quit. No whine, no whimper. Just shut off one day. The clock still works. The 1-4 light still comes on. But the "on" light won't come on, and if you put water in it, it won't pump. I am highly upset. After what we paid for this product, 8 months is inexcusable. I will never buy a Cuisinart product again.

I've never actually used it. It looks cool, though. I really am unqualified to write a review on this. Good luck!

4 out of 5 stars Very pleased - Good brewing temperature   August 23, 2008
Our DeLonghi 12-cup coffee maker flaked out after only 4 months, and never was pleased with the coffee it brewed. I read the mostly good reviews about this Cuisinart and bought one. I'm VERY pleased with the coffee this device makes. Big improvement over the DeLonghi. I was curious about brewing temperature, which is very important for flavor. I measured the temperature of the grounds immediately after the brewing cycle was complete with a laboratory thermometer. It measured 92 degrees Celsius (~198 degrees Fahrenheit). This is very good from what I understand, and the results show. We've only had the unit for a couple months, so can't say much about it's quality. The carafe does not have a hinged top. It just snaps in place, which I find rather annoying (the only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars). But it pours very cleanly.

2 out of 5 stars Makes good coffee but !!!!!!!!!!!   August 23, 2008
This is a replacement for the Cuisnart grind and brew. I had problems with the basket getting jammed and it was impossible to remove. Cuisnart replaced the coffee maker and after a few months the same thing. I decided to just get a neww coffee maker and buy a grinder(kitchen aide) which I am very happy with. The coffee pot is another story. I read the reviews and decided to get it even though there were some flaws. It is difficult to put water in without getting water all over the counter. When the lid is opened again water gets all over the counter. the coffee pot does not slide in evenly so care must be taken. Just alot of design flaws. I just visited Lowe's and looked at coffee pots. I was amazed at how well engineered some coffe pots are and priced about the same as the dcc-1200. Wish I would have waited and gone to Lowe's first. If you don't want to be constantly cleaning up, stay away from this one.
