5 out of 5 stars A Pleasantly Cultivated Block   June 23, 2004
3 out of 7 found this review helpful

This one is pleasant, extremely: a narrow panel for choppings. It is surefeeted, therefore it is safe. But I found too small. I want a larger panel to chop the far eastern vegetables, stewish vegetables or to hack. If you wish and wish small dimension, a pleasantly cultivated block. It's finely. I have desired of the real goods to chop on though.

3 out of 5 stars Best when a few tips are followed:   June 23, 2004

Just a little hint: Try resting the food on the wide, flat surface of this cutting board (Hint within a hint: Try placing the rubber "feet" on a horizontal surface. The side that faces "up" when the "feet" are down is the wide, flat surface to which I refer) and then use the sharp edge (aka "The business side") of your knife to cut through the food. Make sure you grip the knife comfortably and try not to extend your pointer finger along the blade, as this will encourage manual pain (I don't mean a book about how to operate pain!).

This is far easier, and yields more consistent results, than does resting the food on the blade of your cutting utensil and striking it with the board (even if you use a "rocking" motion in the French style). While this method will produce a good quantity of juice, I don't think I need to tell you about the lack of juice channels on this thing. And you know what they say: "A car can kill a man eight different ways, but its primary purpose is still that of transportation." It may be a "cutting board" but it is not the board itself which does the cutting.

2 out of 5 stars I cannot recommend this board   June 11, 2004

After using this cutting board for a few days I gave up in frustration. The feet are constantly getting in the way and make cutting very difficult. They are nothing but a bother and a nuisance. And with such a smooth bottom I found the board constantly sliding across the counter. How about some no-slip pads of some sort?

3 out of 5 stars Quality cutting board, but slippery to cut on....   June 7, 2004

I got the quality I expected, this board is very thick and solid. But it seems very slippery with meat juices, veggies etc. I was worried about accidentially cutting myself. Also, it was slightly dinged up when I got it, not sure if it had proper packaging. After washing it by hand gently, I saw faint white spots on the wood. From now on I may just use it to cut veggies on, no meat. Great quality, but not sure if it has enough friction on it, seems too smooth and slippery. B-. Great price for the brand name, though!

4 out of 5 stars Great Cutting Board   August 22, 2003

This is a great cutting board. It's solid and heavy wood. If only it had an indenture along the sides to catch the juices it would be excellent.
