5 out of 5 stars A perfect teapot   January 18, 2007
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

I'm so glad I read all the reviews and purchased this size instead of the 6-cup. It is the perfect size pot for my husband and I. It will hold 3 good size cups of tea (not the little teacup size but a good size coffee mug).

I find it works best if you fill it with the basket in the pot and add the lid after the water is in.

I highly recommend this purchase!

3 out of 5 stars Functional, but nothing special   January 11, 2007

Regarding size, a cup is an 8oz cup. I don't have a problem with that (8oz. is a cup) but apparently some other people did, so there you have it. The device is functional. It is not attractive or elegant or ingenious; stick a cheap plastic basket in a cheap coffeepot and there you go. Because of the design, it really will only steep properly if you make 3-4 cups. A 2 cup pyrex measuring cup in the microwave is just barely large enough to work with this, so if you are nuking your water, make sure you have a suitable vessel. Loses heat rapidly, and states not for use on stovetop. Holes allow loose tea through, but not in egregious amounts. Only possible nicety is that the strainer is very easy to clean - just dump and rinse. Of use for serving other people (though in that case I would probably suggest looking for something a little nicer, larger or more insulated. If serving yourself only, I would recommend a teastick or ball and brewing each cup or consider an insulated press.

Edit: I still am not impressed with this device, but I have found a solution to the poor thermal qualities. I am absolutely tickled with the performance of my Nissan Thermos FBB1000 34-Ounce Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Briefcase Bottle. It may be a bit gauche for company (I guess you would look at an air pot then), but I can brew up a full four cups in the bodum, dump it in the Nissan, and sip steaming hot tea for the entire evening. I sip out of the Bodum Canteen Double Wall Shot/Espresso Glasses .. which really are not terribly good keeping the tea warm, but the perfect size when combined with a ready source of hot refills.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful, personal teapot!   January 11, 2007

I first experienced the Bodum tea press at The Cupping Room in NYC. My husband bought me the 4-cup one for Christmas. It does a wonderful job. It easily fills my oversized mug three or four times over. It's a good size for my desk at work; however, at home, I would probably use the two-cup press for a quick cup in the morning. I don't have a problem with the suction, or with leaves slipping through as of yet. However, the tea DOES cool off fairly quickly, so I'm going to try to find a warmer.

I source my loose tea from (..............)and the Irish Breakfast tea is a perfect morning pick me up.

5 out of 5 stars Enjoying better tea   January 10, 2007

I gave my wife the Tea Press for Christmas along with a variety of loose teas. The press makes a lovely cup of tea. It works just as advertised and it has opened a new wider variety of teas for us with the loose teas. We really enjoy it.

5 out of 5 stars Tea Presses rock my socks.   January 9, 2007

I have never found anything which makes it so easy to make a few cups of loose tea for breakfast. It works just as wonderfully as it shows on the website video! It's so easy to use and to clean.

P.S. My girlfriend re-discovered her love for tea!
