Plastic flakes in the water--Not good! April 14, 2008

I have had my Bodum pot for 4 or 5 years and use it every day. For the past year, I have noticed black granules or flakes in my hot water. The pot I have is white but the heating area inside on the bottom is black. This bothers me, especially after reading about the dangers of heating in plastic. Although the pot heats fine, does not leak, I am replacing it with one with a stainless steel interior.

Fast and Reliable April 12, 2008
I've been using this kettle for over three years now. It is still in great condition and boils water as fast as when it was new. My roommates and I boil water with it multiple times a day, everyday, so this kettle has been able to withstand heavy use. It is kind of bulky, but looks great and is worth the counter space if you use it very often. I have the yellow color. The paint has rubbed off a bit over the years (to be expected), but nothing more major than that. I would highly recommend it.

Bodum Electric Kettle February 28, 2008
Have used this product for 6 years and love how quickly it heats water and the ease in cleaning this product. I did have to replace mine after 5 years because the flipper plastic top broke, but it does get plenty of use every day. Since the parts are plastic just be careful with the top and it's hinges.
Thinking I would replace this one with something else I bought stainless steel ones and quickly returned all of them to the store. Some of the other's got dangerously hot on the outside of the kettle. The Bodum is a keeper!

Not only is it good looking, mine has withstood the most horrible abuse and misuse and overuse for five years now, and it's still kicking. This is one of the best appliance purchases I ever made.

Not quality, Just a nice looking kettle. January 18, 2008
Lid broke off fairly early. Handle has sharp edges and is not comfortable. After a year of use it moans loudly when heating. No working auto shut-off; it will boil violently if unattended. But it still looks good and heats water. I'm pitching it after a year.
