Great Snow Cone Maker! June 10, 2008
This is a great machine and it's very simple to use. There's only one button--you press it to start and release it to stop. I use the ice molds that come with the machine. I find that the ice shaves faster and smoother once the ice has sat out for five minutes; otherwise, the machine jumps around a bit and has a rough time shaving. I found a couple of round, tupperware containers, the same size as the ice molds, from my local thrift store, so now I have extra molds. Each piece of ice makes a good size snow cone. This machine delivers the snow! It's fun and refreshing.

I think not much needs to be said about this simple machine other than it works exactly how it should. It's easy to use, and easy to keep clean. The two ice molds that it comes with are perfect, and the ice shaves really well. We got this as a staff 'perk', and everybody is loving it, especially now that summer is here. I highly recommend it!

Buy extra cups! June 3, 2008
I love this ice shaver. I own an automatic shaver by Hamilton Beach (Icy Treats)also. The good part about this one is that the ice is much more soft and fluffy than with my other machine. The down side is that it only comes with 2 cups for freezing the liquid. I finally found (after using a lot of expensive gas)a twist top Rubbermaid container that fits it. So, that is why I advise ordering several of the cups when you order the machine.

Beware of using anything that is not rock solid as it gets up under the push plate instead of getting shaved down into the bowl. This is strictly for shaving hard ice - not flavored ices no matter how hard frozen. What does come out is nice and fluffy, but you lose lots if it softens at all before it shaves.

This Ice Shaver is good for 2 to 3 person. But if you are planning to have a party like 4 or more this machine is not for you. It is slow when you are using the ice cubes and need a lot of pressure and muscle. I used it to make our ever famous Filipino Halo Halo. This thing is perfect. I love it because it is cheap and dont need any fancy shaver since I know I will not use so often.
