While at a wine tasting room in Fredericksburg, Texas, we learned about the amazing "riedel glasses." They have the ability to make a so-so wine taste as good as its pricier counterparts. It was explained to us that it's due to the shape, lack of stem, special crystal, etc., but we just say it's magic!!!There is a different glass for each type of wine - red, white, etc.

The times I've purchased these tumblers, they were bought for others who enjoy stemless wine glasses. Each time they were appreciated by the recipients - for their weight and durability in the dishwasher, and also by me - for the price! Packaging was simple, yet protective.

Each of these tumblers weighs in at 105 grams (3.8 ounces). This "chardonnay" glass feels perfect; whereas the cabernet feel very light (but still 110 grams) and much larger.

If you tip the chardonnay over onto its side (empty, of course) it rights itself to the sitting position. If you do this with the cabernet glass it just wobbles around like an egg. All of this says: 1) each has the same amount of non-lead machine blown glass, 2) the base is thicker and heavier on the chardonnay than the cabernet, 3) the walls of the cabernet glass is thinner than the chardonnay. In fact, the chard' feels heavier in the hand than the cab', but weigh the same.
