1 out of 5 stars Gets hot, mixing bowl does not anchor properly   September 22, 2008
0 out of 1 found this review helpful

Bought this mixer 6 months ago. Have used it only a few times for easy (i.e.soft) baked goodies. Simply creaming sugar and butter leaves the mixer scary hot and smelling like it's starting to burn. It seemed loud and it rumbled and bounced a lot while mixing.

Tonight I tried making a wet dough (imagine thick pancake batter). Needed to mix 12 minutes on medium - longest I've ever mixed something. It was banging and rocking and thumping all over the counter. We found it was because the bowl would not twist into it's dock. If you forced it in, there was NO WAY you'd ever get it off again. I was afraid of warping the bowl, seizing the motor, or knocking the paint off the paddle with my attempts at mixing...so why use it at all???!

Oh, and med and high mixing speeds don't seem to be any different.

I wrote to Kitchenaid and am awaiting a response. Right now, it feels like a very expensive, giant paperweight.

5 out of 5 stars Finally got one and love it!!   September 20, 2008
I have always wanted one of the Kitchenaid Stand Mixers and decided to get one when making a wedding cake for my nephew. I love the mixer and it saved a lot of time since I could make larger batches of icing and cake plus my arm wasn't tired from holding up a regular mixer. Great product and I can't wait to get more attachments for it to see what else I can use it for.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Mixer In the World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   September 19, 2008
I have always wanted one of these mixers and I finally went out and bought one. This mixer is so much better than the hand mixer I used to have! It mixes everything up so good! The only problem with this mixer is when you make bread dough it loses power, otherwise it mixes everything very well. What are you waiting for though you should go out and buy one. If you like to make bread like me you should get the more powerful Kitchenaid Pro 6 it has more power than this mixerand it has a bigger bowl for more ingredients.

5 out of 5 stars Does the trick!   September 15, 2008
This mixer has made hundreds of recipes including many catered meals. It's the centerpiece of kitchen we use it so often. It's held up admirably. The hype is well-founded. They're the best.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding   September 15, 2008
These mixers are refined to the point of perfection: they do what they're supposed to do, are a joy to use and look at, and have the feel of something built to last. Mine is three years old and still looks brand new. It gets ample use mixing everything from whole grain bread dough to meringue.
