1 out of 5 stars Waste of money   September 13, 2008
Awful. Just awful. Very cheaply made, cheap quality plastic. You must use a super small mug. Mine completely broke after about 4 months. Stay away.

5 out of 5 stars Quick and easy, and very reliable!   September 13, 2008
My mother, sister, and I have each had one of these Black & Decker Cup-At-A-Time coffeemakers for *years*. They are long-lived, reliable, and always give you a perfect, single cup of coffee. Additionally, they are small, very light of weight, and easy to carry with you if you do a lot of traveling (esp. by car), or for use at your desk.

Just think of the satisfaction you will have of enjoying a fresh-made cup of your favourite blend whenever you want, instead of either drinking the bilge in the community coffeepot, instead of drinking the bilge in the community coffeepot. And how about the money that you could save by making your own cup of fresh coffee instead of dropping at least $2.00 for a cup from a local cafe. I can speak from experience on both of these points...

The purchasing of one is about as close to a "worthwhile investment" as one can make, with regard to small appliances. Unfortunately, they can be very difficult to find in so-called "brick-and-mortar" stores. Kudos to Amazon for carrying them! I intend to purchase two more of them, as gifts for friends who have long coveted mine...

3 out of 5 stars Functional, no frills, average coffee   September 12, 2008
The product is as simple as a drip coffee maker gets. An on/off switch, and that's about it. I like that you don't need a special cup/mug for it, and can use any standard-sized 12 oz. coffee mug for it to brew into. I don't think it will fit a larger size. It's very compact on my desk, and brews a cup pretty fast.

But I guess with price and size, you lose some quality. The filter is a very fine mesh, and not as "open" as many other filters. With the short brew time, the resulting brew is weaker than is desirable. If you like a stronger coffee, I suggested a finer ground of beans than you would normally use for a drip machine. Paper filters may also help some.

Overall, a product for convenience, not quality, but with some brew-engineering, it may be able to turn out some decent coffee.

3 out of 5 stars Not a bargain just cheep   September 10, 2008
When purchasing this product keep in mind that its cheep. The most notable problem I have found with this coffee pot is that when you are done brewing you can either take the hot coffee and let the remainder of the coffee drip down onto the platform or leave the cup till its done dripping and has gone luke warm. This problem repeats itself when you clean out the reusable basket as it too will drip down onto the platform. Now a quick fix would be to just leave a cup there all the time but its just a minor aggravation.

5 out of 5 stars Bought for a gift, may have to buy myself one.   September 3, 2008
I bought the coffee maker for my 91 year old mother. It is hard to find one of these in the stores. I was surprised at how quicly I received the item. My Mom loves this coffee maker and has convinced me I need one too. I think she may be right. It does exactly what it states on the box, is a perfect size for a small kitchen and gets the job done.
