5 out of 5 stars Best I have ever owned! Perfect for kids to help out!   September 16, 2008
This ice cream maker performed wonderfully. We put the bowl in the deep freeze for 24 hours and made Alton Brown's basic vanilla ice cream modified to vanilla bean ice cream. Then we froze the bowl for just a few more hours and made green tea frozen yogurt by combining the vanilla frozen yogurt recipe and the green tea sorbet recipe from the provided cookbook. Both turned out perfectly and there was enough from the two batches for our family of five (plus the brother that pops in and raids the fridge) to indulge in for a few days! The machine is very well made and doesn't seem to take up near as much room (maybe because it is not as akward) as our old machine that uses ice and rock salt but makes the same amount. Definitely recommend this machine to everyone. I was considering the more costly one that does not require freezing the bowl but went with this one to save money. I don't feel as if I have sacrificed any convenience. We just keep the bowl in the freezer and it is ready when we are.

5 out of 5 stars Ice Milk Forever!   September 15, 2008
Who needs ice cream? Just break an egg, add 4 1/2 cups of 2% milk, a tablespoon of vanilla and 1/2 cup of Splenda, thrash with a rubber wire & wallah!... low calorie ice milk in 30 minutes. That's all I need of this machine and it performs perfectly!

5 out of 5 stars worth owning   September 14, 2008
I own just the basic small appliances. I used to view an ice cream maker as frivolous and likely to gather dust. Not so. It is easy to use and to clean. Keep the bowl in a bag in the freezer so that you will be ready. I also like the idea that I can make healthy desserts using seasonal fruits. If you have the space to store the machine, I recommend getting one.

5 out of 5 stars Best Kitchen/Specialty Appliance I ever bought   September 13, 2008
I love it! I took everyone's advice and froze the bowl for 2 nights before using it. I also took everyone's advice and bought the Ben & Jerry's recipe book. I love it and am happy to know exactly what is in the ice cream I am feeding my kids. It takes only about 25 minutes to make the ice cream but I recommend freezing overnight to get it hard if you like firm ice cream! best kitchen appliance I own after my espresso machine!

5 out of 5 stars Simply the BEST!   September 11, 2008
I almost did not buy this ice cream maker due to a few naysayers reviews, and I am so glad I did not listen to them, anyone that cannot make incredible ice cream in this machine either did not let it freeze or did not read the directions. This is easy to use and clean, with some cream, milk ... any well anything you like to eat, and half an hour you can have some of the best wholesome ice cream there is.
After finding out I am allergic to most things, I was a bit depressed, then I found this, with just cream, milk, pure cane sugar, and dutch cocoa powder I can have the most decadent ice cream I have ever had, if you like the frozen desert just mix by hand if you like it creamier then use a mixer or blender, try all kinds of different things in this machine and you will become a master ice cream maker. If you are health conscious and have a sweet tooth, this will save your life!!!!!!!
