horrible machine and company February 26, 2008

I bought this machine and registerd my product with the company in June of 07. I purchase my flavor packets through myflavia web because there are no stores which carry these products. That is your first problem getting the products. Which are expensive. Second problem is if it does work it wont work for long. It makes horrible sounds and going through their technical support is like going through microsofts. The company will not stand behind their products even if you are registerd with them. Buyer be ware!

I have tried every single cup brewing machine I could get my hands on and nothing...........NOTHING, compares to this wonderful machine. Its quiet, its easy to use, there is never a mess and the coffee, teas, etc...are plentiful and fabulous. I am very picky about my coffee and this suits me just fine. True, the refills can only be purchased on-line, so far, but to me, its worth the hassle !!!

Its all about the jasmine tea! February 19, 2008

I worked at a couple of places that have the high capacity flavia machines and I noticed that the jasmine green tea was far and away the most popular thing these machines make. The flavia guy would show up twice a week with more packets and with in an hour of the refill the jasmine tea would be gone because folks hoarded them. So even if you aren't normally a green tea drinker you ought to check it out.
The coffees are a mixed bag: I find that I like the colombian but that the dark roasts (italian, espresso) are not really that tasty from this machine (and normally I do like dark roasts.)
Anyway this machine is dern convenient and I am pretty sure that you can find something that it makes you will find tasty.

I received my Flavia station as a Christmas gift from my dad, and have certainly put it to good use! It's fun to use that I actually enjoy brewing my own cup of joe as opposed to driving to my favorite coffee shop that roasts their own beans! The smell of the freshly brewed coffee is wonderful, and that fact that it takes less than 20 seconds is awesome. It's fun to make different cappuccinos or steamers with the creamy topping pack - i'm not even a cappuccino or latte drinker, but it's just plain fun coming up with different combos. They offer a fairly decent range of different coffees such as sumatra, colombian, kenyan, costa rican, italian and dark roasts, and a few flavored choices like hazelnut and french vanilla. Flavia also lets you make hot chocolate and various leaf teas and tea blends.
CONS: The fusion drinks station comes with a filter that should be replaced every 2 months and costs $11. The upside is that it is not required to use the filter. If you are already using decent bottled water, you're not going to taste much - if any -of a difference. Also, it may seem a little pricey for a sleeve of drinks (they range from $8-$10), but you get about 20/sleeve, so really that's still bewteen 40-50 cents a cup. They also get you for shipping, but if you save up a place a hefty $100 order (you can get around 11-12 sleeves), it's free. I don't have a problem with the noise - it makes a pop when the freshness valve is broken, and you hear the noise from the pressure of brewing the coffee.
PROS: Great tasting, quickly fresh brewed coffee in the comfort of your own home. Very easy to maintain - just keep it filled with water and wipe the drip tray clean if needed. If using the creamy topping, make sure to position the cup directly under the brew head and wipe the underneath clean.
All in all, I absolutely love this machine - you can have an instant fresh cup of coffee with the push of a button and with only the mug to wash out.

What a deal at Macy's January 2, 2008

Our Macy's newspaper ad around Christmas had these on sale for $29.99. All colors were there. Does this mean Macy's is going to discontinue? Is Flavia dropping the line? Also it came with the 18-pack sampler. As mentioned by others, availability of the packets may be limited.

Well, we bought it and like it a lot. Some good tips on this page helped us decide. The pros and cons are all here. Ours works great and my wife loves the tea options. It has a bigger footprint than I imagined, but we are 4+ happy. We have enjoyed every product tasted to date. Also, we like to be able to fill it using a gallon jug of spring/bottled water and not take off the water tank and instructed. Easy, clean, noise very acceptable -- same as your old espresso maker if you had one. The bag makes a 'pop' when the water bursts it. I think we will be happy with this going forward if Flavia et. al. support it.
