I thought it was a great product before buying it. But it is only good on paper. The problem is that the tea leaves are pushed to the bottom of the infuser. As you can see in the picture, there are no holes in the bottom part of the infuser. This makes it a little troublesome to make a good cup of tea.
Just in case you are also looking for good teas, here is a wonderful green tea: Rishi Tea Organic Jasmine Pearl Loose Tea, 3-Ounce Tin (Pack of 2)

I love my tea press You have to be careful for REAL small leaves but I love it I would highly recommend it to any of my friends and it makes great tea easy to use.

Perfect Teapot December 29, 2007

This is an amazing tea pot. It is beyond anything I could have dreamed of. Yes, the pieces are plastic, but what's wrong with plastic? The pot is glass, the handle is very secure, all the other bits are very sturdy to my handling. To the reviewer who gave this a negative review because the handle melted.. it's not supposed to be a kettle for stove top use, are you mad?

I had been using a ceramic teapot for almost two years and got tired of the endless dripping, the stains where the ceramic was not glazed, and the impossible-to-clean-without-a-pipe-cleaner, spout. Then I found this, and it amazes me that it went undetected for so long. First of all, it meets my priority requirement: it does not drip. It is also very easy to clean for those of us who must hand wash. Even though it is glass, the pot does not seem to get colder any faster than the ceramic one did. I really like that if you're like me and occasionally make a pot of tea but forget about it, you can come back to it and pop the whole pot in the microwave (after you remove the metal plunger bit) instead of heating each individual cup.

Regarding the plunger, I only use bagged tea so I have no issues with tiny tea particles escaping. The product directions say to be careful about the bags getting caught between the plunger and the wall of the mechanism, but I have never had this happen. The plunger really does do what it is supposed to, in keeping separate the water with the tea from the rest of the pot. There is no need to fish out the tea once you lower the plunger. I've left the tea bags in there for several hours, come back to my tea, heated it up and it wasn't at all over steeped.

I love this tea pot!

Is the platic filter safe to use with boiling water? December 26, 2007

This tea press works fine to me. However, whenever I pour boiling water into plastic filter, it comes to mind if it is safe to use for drinking. Hot water may leach out some harmful materials from polycarbonate filter to tea. It reinforces me after I found out that Bodum introduces recently stainless filter in other tea press model, which is slightly more expensive. They did not address this question in their package or website.

Handle Burned November 21, 2007

I loved the tea press. The simple design and the fact that it poured very nicely. You can not put the pot on a gas stove directly because the handle starts to melt. I realized that the handle was made of plastic, but it stated that it was resistant to heat up to 500 degrees. I recommend buying the tea warmer stand or pouring hot water in the pot and letting the tea sit in it. I think this press was not suitable for me because I prefer to add other spices and boil the water for some time. I later purchased a tea pot with a diffuser that had a glass handle and it works very well and was a bit cheaper.
