Sea Mist Fiestaware dishes are wonderful! August 25, 2005

I love these dishes. They are lead-free and you can do so much with them because they are a solid color. I liked the sea mist color even more when I saw the actual dishes--it is very soothing to the eye, and I don't think that I will get tired of it as I might with one of the brighter or darker colors.

I love Fiestware and have been collecting for years. But I bought this Periwinkle set from Amazon and was very unhappy when it arrived. On the website Periwinkle appears to be a bright, light retro 60's blue, but in person, the color is dull, gray-blue and unappetizing. My set is going back, because I quite frankly hate the color, and it doesn't go with the other colors I have.

Fiestaware items are objects of beauty that I have found to be virtually indestructible. I have them at my house, and I worked for an upscale wine bar and restaurant that used them for everything...any pretty plate that survives heavy restaurant use is great in my book! And what fantastic colors for food presentation...

We bought these because they were on sale, and it's hard to find black. At the start, they were suppossed to be temporary.
Then we bought extra plates, because we'd fallen in love with them. Not only are they classy and match the decor, but these are tough. I'm a klutz, and these bowls bounce right off of the floor, nothing broken yet, and coming up to a year.
My only complaint is the small size of the cups, and I about never use the saucers, but that's a matter of taste, and there are other sets available.

I placed 2 different orders for a total of 55 place settings of fiestaware, spread across 10 different colors. The dishes look great. Everything arrived quickly without any hassles & nothing was broken. People who expect to match color off pictures from the web aren't doing their homework. Check colors at local stores & you'll know exactly what you'll be getting. There are also a lot of websites with more pictures and detailed color descriptions.
