5 out of 5 stars Worth the money!   January 31, 2003

My husband gave me a Kitchen Aid professional stand mixer for Christmas...it was too large and the head didn't tilt back. I returned that one and got a white Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer. The professional mixer was great...just too bulky for me for just home use. The Artisan has the higher wattage motor that I wanted (325watts) and the tilt back head feature that is so convenient! I use this mixer exclusively...no more digging around to find my hand-held mixer. I leave it out on my counter all of the time and that makes it ultra convenient. I was worried about mashing potatoes, that they would become cold going into the bowl of the mixer, but that is not the case. If you use cold or hot water baths...this is not the mixer for you since there is no way to put another bowl of water under the bowl of this mixer. You would need to get a mixer with a lift such as the Professional or Epicurean Kitchen Aid. You won't be dissappointed with this mixer!

5 out of 5 stars Best Stand Mixer in the World   January 30, 2003

Once you use this stand mixer, you will never prepare food in the same way again. The mixer is easy to keep clean with a few swipes of a damp cloth. The bowl is large and can hold a large amount of egg whites for desserts; and the whites whip fluffy and light. There are several speeds that make food preparation fun and easy. Preparing cakes, pudding and cheesecakes will become an everyday routine that saves you time in the kitchen.

Did you know how easy it is to bake from scratch when you've got one of these? Mash potatoes that are light and fluffy? Heck, it doesn't even get dirty during use. Sound motor, solid construction, it can even do frozen butter.

5 out of 5 stars How did I ever live without it?   January 17, 2003

I confess to being partly attracted to this appliance because I love anything that comes in red. That having been said, I'm also a good cook who loves to entertain in grand style and make things from scratch. I also have a 2-year old son who lives for making cookies in our "Cookie-monster" as he calls it. Knowing that about myself, why I never got this thing before is beyond me. It's so powerful! Fresh whipped cream in seconds. None of that processed Cool Whip junk ever again. I can have the potatoes mashing while doing other things. Several batches of cookies at once without wondering if you're going to blow a fuse with that terrible little hand-held. And, if you just feel like zoning after a stressful week, don't underestimate the soothing hypnotic quality of a rotating arm and the hum of motor as the smell of chocolate brownies wafts from your oven :) Enjoy ladies!
