Great Coffee LEmon of a Machine December 9, 2007
I purchased a used Saeco Italia on Ebay and for the first few espresso shots it worked great, and the coffee tasted great. A few weeks later it started leaking water from the bottom, a few weeks more it became 3+ounces of water every shot, a few weeks later the steam knob blew off. Now I have a machine without steam it leaks like crazy and most recently the electronics caused it to jam. It thinks it needs water but even though it's full of water won't reset. It's a lemon and will take $200 to fix with shipping. Good Luck Get a Warranty. Mine was made in 2004.

Looks like a lot of people have had bad luck with this machine
I have been very happy with it, I bought it refurbed for about $350 over 2 years ago and have pulled 15 to 20 shots from it every day.
It is a bit temperamental at times getting a bit lost during its program

A few times i thought it had died on me , but with a little patients and cleaning and re setting it was back.
Now I pull it apart about once a month for cleaning- found a coffee bean it likes (so it does not clog)and use filtered water - We are now very happy together :)
Have only de scaled once in 2 years, so maybe it's time to do that.
But really, for the price it is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone, with a little patients to understand it, it works just fine

I moved to Brazil where the voltage is a little higher, a lot of my appliances died, but not the Saeco - still going and with amazing flavorful Brazilian coffee beans - Perfect!

FAILED 3 months GREAT SERVICE. November 3, 2007
Bought in 2007, refurbished. Lasted 3 months. Went DEAD. Sent to Saeco for service. They were poor on communication. Our warranty was 6 months. They would have our unit up to 3 months with no warranty extension. Not happy at this time, at all.
Received unit back 10 weeks later. Opened it up to find a New unit with full warranty! Our other machine must have been really bad!
New unit is flawless, now about 7 months.

I love the ease of use of this product. However, it's a little finicky about the settings. You have to be proactive in the maintenance of it. Make sure the mechanism is clean, the waste bucket empty, and the water is ready to flow. If old grounds get stuck in the mechanism you'll get the grind but no water flow. I also found that using the maximum shot size, it was a little too easy to make that happen. Since I backed off a little I haven't had any problems. This is so cool! Push a button get a cup of coffee - I love it!

Broken machine August 23, 2007

I bought the Saeco Italia fully automatic espresso machine. The original fix on our machine was initiated on 5/07 due to the grinder not working right. SAECO sent us back the machine originally in crappy packaging, so the door hinge was broken.
We received our coffee machine back again & NOTHING was done to the plastic hinge attaching the door to the body of the machine. The piece that was broken is on the machine side of the machine (on the bottom swing hinge. It is such an obvious issue because the door does not even hang straight on the machine with that particular piece broken. I guess we should have had brightly colored arrows pointing to the area that needed attention in order for someone to get what was broken. We are now a couple months into ordering this machine with no satisfaction.

I guess the thing that is even more irrational is the fact that SAECO spent well over $200 on this machine this time without even fixing it! At this point between all the fixes & shipping thay have spent more than the value of the machine. I don't know who we have to talk to in order to get this thing resolved. We feel like SAECO is screwing us because we cannot return this machine to the seller! In the meantime- NO COFFEE!! I JUST WANT A MACHINE THAT WORKS.
