Senseo HD7810/75 Single Serve Coffee Machine

The mild and medium roasts, which come with the machine, are very, very weak versions of very institutional very American coffee. There is a nice head of crema, but the appearance belies the flavor. I was frankly astonished to see this coffee described as "European." It is nothing of the sort. Doubling up on the pods (one tiny cup with two pods) helps a little, but not much.

The dark roast is not so aggressively Maxwell House-ian, but its flavor is very bland as well.

The convenience and speed are great, though the 30-second quote is misleading: There is a warm-up period for the water that takes at least 90 seconds. But that's a quibble: The thing is quite convenient. I just wish the coffee were anywhere close to acceptable.

Note also that only the official Douwe Egberts pods work in the machine. The "customers who bought this also bought" links misleadingly point to the Melitta pods, which produce only a lightly tinted water when used in the Senseo. Ditto for Starbucks espresso pods.

I currently use this product in Europe. I was concerned about not being able to get the coffee I love when I return to the US this summer. Now that I see I can get Douwe & Egberts coffee in my home via the Philips Senseo, my return home will be complete! This is simply the cleanest, best tasting coffee for the money available today!

OK - I loved it so much when I visited my family in the Netherlands that I schlepped one back here & had to scour the internet to find a power converter that wouldnt blow out due to currency challenges. Wish that I had known that it was coming to this market so I wouldnt have spent the extra $80 for the converter!!! Love this coffee - creamy & delicious - doesnt hold a candle to the Melitta one-one.

The New Senseo from Philips is fantastic. I use it everyday and it really creates a great cup of coffee. I use the two pad option and make a double cup...The machine is high quality, not cheap like some other brands

I was mesmerized when I came across a Senseo in Nov, 2003. After I returned to US, I was hoping to purchase one. Finally, it is available.
