4 out of 5 stars Best Grill for the $$$   June 4, 2007

Yes, it really is a great grill. I have no idea why people are still buying the huge, chrome monster grills I see at the home improvement stores for $500 - $2,000. I think they're nuts! I first bought the Weber 200 based on Amazon reviews. The portable propane tanks do not last long - if you grill in your backyard, be sure to get the hose to attach a full size propane tank. (reminder, these are not the small green Coleman propane tanks, these are the blue, long propane tanks you find in the plumbing aisle at WalMart).

Even though the 200 is advertised as a portable unit, it really isn't. It's nice and compact, but not portable to where you would throw it into your car for a picnic. I store mine in a plastic patio tub and bring it out and set it on top of the tub for grilling. I do not need a vinyl cover or rolling cart. The wing shelves are very convenient. The heavy, cast iron grill top is what makes the unit well made - it will not rust, bend, break, or otherwise deteriorate. It is a solid, well made grill - not at all like the black, clones (junk) you see selling by the front doors of the discount stores.

Good tip - line the bottom of the grill around the gas element with aluminum foil for easier clean-up. I also like the (easy) foil grease pans in the bottom of the unit. They last forever, but when the season is over, pull it out, and throw it away

For the first month, the start button worked on (about) the fourth or fifth try. After that, it has consistently started on the first push.

I read several times that you need to preheat it for 10 minutes in order for it to cook correctly, but I have not found that to be the case. I start it on high, keep it on high for about a minute, then turn it down to low - plenty of heat/fire. In fact - sometimes too hot. A suggested accessory would be a grate/grill with legs to lift the food above the main grate.

I liked the grill so much two months later I went out and purchased a Weber Baby Q (model 100) for my seasonal campground. I'd rather have it out at the campground all the time without having to haul the model 200 back and forth. I plan to just use the portable propane tanks with the camper grill.

Great grill, goes thru the small bottles quickly, plan to get a hose to connect to large bottle if you are going to use it at home.

5 out of 5 stars Great Weber Grill   June 1, 2007
Arrived quickly and safely -- this grill is very well packed. It's easy to put together. The gas canisters are hard to find, so getting the adapter to use a tank that normally fits a stationary grill is a great advantage. Grill is sturdy and cooks well. I am also very please with the fast shipping from Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars happy with this weber grill   May 30, 2007

Am very happy with this weber propane grill. nice even cooking. well-designed I must say. built-in thermometer quite practical. Somewhat portable if I ever need it to be. A great small grill is better for many people than big complicated fancy super-expensive grills. Even though the various add-ons raise the total price, still the whole package altogether is not expensive, worth every dollar.
