After researching some BBQ's I am so glad I decided to go with the Weber Q 200...it is the best!! It grills food perfectly and the taste is excellent. Definately worth every penny.

4 out of 5 stars Portabilty, Size, and Power   May 15, 2007

I have had this grill for a few weeks now, but my father has had one for over a year. This grill is truly a joy to use, and due to its price and portability, I would recommend it to friends.

The grilling area is more than large enough to cook enough for a crowd. I was originally worried about the rather low BTU output of the burner, but with the addition of a (very) heavy cast iron grate that can store the heat, it cooks as well as a grill 5 times its size. It takes a little longer to heat up than some other grills, but the cast iron makes the temperature very stable, even with opening the lid often (I tested this with a probe thermometer). The lid is actually rather shallow, I believe that this was also done for heat retentive reasons. Just make sure that the grill has 10 minutes to heat on high before cooking anything.

Speaking of the cast iron grate, you'll need to treat it just as you would any other cast iron pan. Keep it clean of debris, and properly seasoned, and it will be the best non stick surface you can get.

Don't think that due to its portability, that this grill is insubstantial. It actually needs to be carried by 2 people (or on the optional rolling cart) due to the heavy grill grate. The portability is that it can be easily transported to areas where disassembling and reassembling a normal grill would be prohibitive.

Because no review is complete without some negative points, I would add that this grill only has a single burner that runs in a loop in the center of the grill, so you wouldn't be able to roast something on indirect heat very easily. Also, the grill is set up to accept 14.1oz canisters of propane. These are the long blue ones that you hook up to a torch. I can't speak to how long they last, but chances are, that if you want to use the grill in a more permanent setting (on a deck or patio), then you'll want to invest in a converter hose so that you can use a full 20lb tank.

GREAT!!!! typical weber high quality. listened to our daughter who has gone through other cheaper grills and finally spent the bucks and will never have to buy another grill again. even grilling and heating, heavy but a light grill is cheap, get the extender to use small gas canisters from WalMart. we are on our 2nd canister. we disconnected the first one without thinking and wasted gas, the 2nd one is still cooking and we have used it 4 times.

5 out of 5 stars Liked it so much, I bought 2.   May 12, 2007

I've owned my Weber Q200 for over a year, and I've had no complaints with it. In fact, when my father approached me about purchasing himself a new grill, I bought him a Weber Q200 and the optional stationary cart (Weber 54601 Stationary Cart for Weber Q Grills 120 and 220) He rants and raves about his Weber as much as I did, and do about mine. For the size, it's the best grill I've seen, and it's much better than many larger grills (see also: $99-$200 specials at your local conglomo-mart.) If you plan on using it as your home grill, I would HIGHLY recommend the stationary cart and a 20lb propane tank. I grill nearly every night in the summer and a full 20lb tank lasts nearly the whole season.
