5 out of 5 stars Pretty good grill, but it is the customer service that gets the 5 stars   May 10, 2007

I've had this grill for 3 or 4 years now. Nothing special. Better than any other small grill that I have owned. The big deal to me is the customer service. I called Weber stating that I wanted to buy a new burner and regulator but I couldn't find them anywhere. They asked for the serial number and my address. One week later, brandy new free parts. Sweet. Customer service rocks!

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous Grill!   May 9, 2007

I have used this grill and love its portability as well as the ease of use. The cast iron grates get good and hot, great for grilling anything you want. Have given two as gifts and both recipients loved the grill as well. Don't think you can do better!

4 out of 5 stars It does the job!   May 7, 2007

I was initially using this grill with the small propane tanks ( which sucked and were very annoying...one of the tanks I was using only worked for 1.5 grilling sessions...I think I was sold a half empty tank!) and had some issues getting the grill started and the flame blowing out. I bought an adapter and I am now using the large propane tank...seems to work much better. I live on the 8th floor of a high rise and have the grill on my balcony. Some days are pretty windy and it is hard to keep the flame from blowing out, but I think that would happen with any grill. I have yet to use the 'portable' feature of my grill, but it seems that it would be convenient...I also bought the portable cart. This grill is perfect for grilling for one...starts right up, heats quickly and dinner is ready in 20 mins. or so. I have yet to grill for many people at once, but it seems like there is plenty of room for that.

3 out of 5 stars Almost a Great Grill, but Does Not Get Hot Enough   April 20, 2007

The title says it all. I bought this grill back in 2004, including the propane tank adapter and the grilling stand. It is the perfect size, easy to use and clean, and feels of a high quality. Stays outside all year with cover and almost always starts right up.

I have the same issue with "blowouts" described in another review. It is annoying to have to not only check the food, but every few minutes having to check the burner to make sure I'm not pumping my food full of propane. Always lights right up though.

But the biggest issue I have is that even with a good 10 minute pre heat and full-on high power on the dial, this grill barely gets hot. Burgers take 20 minutes. I did steaks last weekend and cooked them for 50 minutes and they were still VERY medium rare. This is unacceptable. Propane tank was at least 3/4 full, dial is all the way up, and still just sorta warm inside.

I feel like it was better when I first got it, so maybe something needs replacing. But even when brand new I remember thinking the heat was only adequate at best. It still is only adequate.

I think it would make a great camping/portable/RV/tailgate grill, but I will likely be replacing it soon with the Weber Spirit. I have been incredibly impressed with all my Weber grills over the years (3 kettle charcoal, extensive use of friends gas Genesis), but the Weber Q lives up only to Weber construction and not so much Weber cooking quality.

I would still recommend it, but I say buy it from someplace where you can take it back if it doesn't meet your needs.

3 out of 5 stars LOVE THE DESIGN HATE THE PERFORMANCE   April 13, 2007

I really wanted to like this grill, but it's a disappointment. I have been using this grill since the winter of 2004. Back then, it was called Weber Q, and did not have the number 200.
While the compact size and the adorable design is a bonus, there are issues with the ignition and the burner. The grill is in a covered patio, but when the humidity is high, or even if it is very mildly windy, it won't ignite. Even if it does ignite, after a few minutes, it would sometimes die.

Soon after I bought it, I called the customer service, talked with them and they sent me a new converter free of charge. Everything else appeared to be fine, so the representative thought that something may be wrong with the converter. I use the converter so that I could use the big propane tank, instead of the smaller ones. Weber has the best customer service; that's why I am giving three stars instead of one or two. Even after getting the new converter, I still continue to have problems with it either not igniting or the burner going out on me occasionally. When I say occasionally, it means roughly 10-20% of the time. At times, I just light it with a match. When the burner stays aflame, it does the job of grilling great bratwurst and steaks. There are some hot spots on the grill, though. Also, the side shelves are a bit flimsy.

Maybe I got a lemon, because everyone else seems to be happy. The cost and the hassle of sending it to be repaired is too much, so I am just getting another bigger and better grill in a few months.
