4 out of 5 stars Even without the mysticism it's still good advice.   October 6, 2008

People can throw stones at the mysticism all they want but the truth is The Secret can help you have a more positive and productive outlook on life.

Even if you don't buy into the divine and supernatural aspect of the teachings included in The Secret you can improve aspects of your life by looking at the glass as half full rather than half empty.

Even if that's all you take away from The Secret then it's still a winner.

Rhonda Byrne just did what alot of other folks have done...taking stuff from the last hundred years or so and reformatting it. It was boring. Having read all of Wallace Wattles, Og Mandino, Robert Collier, it was basically the same pitch, only filled with the same over and over tidbits from the other same people doing the same thing ala Chicken Soup for the Soul.
Basically what it says is, "Stop playing the victim and get into the right way of living!" How do you do that? By praying. Put yourself into a good frame of mind and ask the Lord for blessings, and be grateful.
Just remember, Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You.
Jesus tried to impart The Secret to his followers: You can have anything you want, you can do anything you want, you can be anything you want. Just believe in yourself and live as God intended you to live.
So, be a good doobie while you're here. The rest will fall into place.

5 out of 5 stars The worlds we live in today   October 4, 2008

In the world we live in to today , i think it is essential to have a belief system. It doesn't matter what it is, a higher power, the beauty of nature, or a BOOK! I think that if more people believed in the positive, that things would change in the universe. I think that the message should be clear, that everyone has a right to have a source of positivity in their lives. Why anyone would "burst someones bubble" is beyond me. Everyone has positive and negatives in their lives and I do believe that anyone can have it all, if they beleive they deserve it!
Creating a book "The Secret" is a small step to teach people that there is good and great things to be had. So much negativity surrounds this book, from negative and ultimately unhappy people.
Yes, I have read "The Secret" many times and each and everytime I get some source and sense of serenity, how can that be a bad thing. So in keeping with perspective, that "everything does happpen for a reason" can you beleive that people attract into their lives what they want? You are in CONTROL of your destiny, You do posses the power to attain! Some of it takes work and some of it is just the flow of the Universe.
People be happy and kind to one another, that's the first step!

1 out of 5 stars The Secret   October 4, 2008
Read it and placed it aside. Listen, if you want anything worthwhile in life you have to be persistent and go out and work for it. God helps those who help themselves. I read another book titled The Key to the Secret by James De Havilland and believe me it is great. De Havilland teaches that unused capability becomes the lost capability therefore you must unfold your own capability. He doesn't tell you to simply believe, he tells you to "do". That's my opinion.

5 out of 5 stars Inspiration   October 3, 2008

I am truly inspired by this book. It has given me a new lease on life as it really made me think about how I approach everyday events and to what degreee the choices I make affect myself and those I care about the most. I listen to it frequently, have created a vision board as suggested, and feel that my life is more in my control than ever before.
