Their wrap-around rubber rand and edging platform provides solid face climbing performance while a low-profile toe fits well in hand-size cracks. La Sportiva uses sticky FriXion rubber to increase the B5 Shoes' climbing ability and an aggressive I.B.S. tread pattern for better hiking performance. They also added an all-leather upper to take the abuse that long days on the trials and rocks dish out on a pair of shoes.
