REVIEW: Classically styled for the sporty gentleman, this silver-tone Invicta stainless steel men's automatic watch travels easily between professional environs and weekend adventures. It features water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet), which is suitable for recreational diving, and a stylish black unidirectional rotating bezel with white engraved elapsed time markings. The black dial includes Tritnite luminous dotted markers and stylized hands (with seconds hand), small minute indexes, and a date window at 3 o'clock. Other features include a handsome stainless steel bracelet band with a fold-over safety clasp, and an anti-reflective mineral crystal.

An automatic (or self-winding) watch is fitted with a device (rotor) that automatically winds the spring by using the force of gravity. It needs no battery, but it will stop if you have been physically inactive for an extended period of time--as long as you're moving, the watch will stay powered. Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet invented the self-winding mechanism in 1770. It worked on the same principle as a modern pedometer, and was designed to wind as the owner walked.

Tritnite is a luminous material with an extended glow exclusively developed by Invicta in Switzerland and added to their timepiece hands and markers. When exposed to regular daylight, it will hold its glow for about 20 hours.

A real surprise October 15, 2008
Nicer than expected and the timing is accurate. A great looking watch. I am very pleased with the purchase. I only wear automatic watches, and it's hard to find good ones that keep time. A terrific product and a terriic value September 3, 2008
There are a number of reviews that do justice to this terrific automatic watch, so I won't repeat chapter, book and verse about it. One very pleasant surprise: out of the box, my watch gains only 15 seconds per day; and ought to achieve greater accuracy as the mechanism has a chance to work itself in during the next several weeks.

Financially, the watch is a great value. Recently, it has become an Amazon Prime product which means that its price is very very competitive and the Invicta one-year warranty can be upgraded at no cost to five years. Get an Amazon credit card and you're given a one-time $30 credit which is basically equivalent to a 10 percent discount.

I'm still waiting to be impressed August 18, 2008
I've owned my Invicta Swiss Diver since 10/07. After a "break in" period it kept losing about 25 seconds each day. I've owned Rolexes and thought of this as a replacement. It has very good jewelry quality but accuracy was very disappointing. I returned it for service in early July and haven't received it back yet. I'm hoping for a big improvement. I have owned a Brietling and the service when it stopped working after two years was $500.00 so I'm being patient but a little disappointed so far.

Just got my new 9937 July 24, 2008

I just got my 9937 swiss movement pro diver. I was thinking about the omega and rolex, as well. To be honest, I thought there would be a huge difference in quality between the two very expensive diver watches and my new 9937. There is none from my inexperienced eyes. Actually, the invicta felt better than the rolex.

I would not even consider the cheaper japanese movement watch. I saw the Japanese movement watch in a store. Yes it is almost identical. However, the second hand on the swiss is much more smoother and the date window has more magnification.

I brought this watch to a real watchmaker to get it sized and he was impressed with the watch. He said that it looked virtually the same as the omega, in terms of movement. I think he is right.

I don't know how it will last. However, from first impression, I am quite happy with the THOUSANDS I saved and the quality I got.
